WP 4: Acquisition of existing data

Objectives

To obtain readily available existing data, of sufficient quality, reliability and methodological compatibility, in order to enhance the achievement of the project objectives. To maintain good lines of communication and co-operation with all other relevant European and national sampling and assessment programmes and standardisation approaches.

Methodology/work description

New data collected during the project will be supplemented by existing historical data, relevant to, and of a compatible standard with the data collected during the current project. These data will be derived from a range of sources, amongst others:

• Project AQEM macro-invertebrate data
• UK RIVPACS database, National Invertebrate Database (NID), 1990 and 1995 river quality survey databases and the RHS and MTR databases
• Dutch databases (EKOO and EBEOSWA)
• PERLA project (Czech Republic)
• Databases of the Nordic countries
• Database of the FAME project

All these existing data obtained will be collected and stored in a common database developed during the current project or linkages between databases will be established (Workpackage 10).
